Fern House is honored to welcome baseball legend Darryl Strawberry for a powerful and uplifting morning together.
Across a brilliant 17-year career in the 1980s and 1990s, Darryl captured fans’ hearts with his talent and charisma on the field. He was the National League Rookie of the Year, an eight-time All-Star, a four-time World Series champion, and earned his place in the New York Mets Hall of Fame.
But beyond the stadium lights, Darryl faced battles that fame and fortune could not shield him from. Addiction, destructive choices, and personal struggles once threatened to define his story. As he has shared candidly, there was a time when he had everything on the outside—but felt empty and lost within.
Today, Darryl’s life is a testament to the possibility of redemption and transformation. Sober for many years, he and his wife devote themselves to ministry, offering hope, faith, and guidance to those in need. Through their outreach, they support families affected by addiction, autism, and challenges faced by at-risk youth.
Darryl’s powerful journey—from the highs of professional sports to the depths of personal despair, and ultimately to a life of purpose and service—reminds us all that no one is beyond the reach of hope.
Join us for this inspiring morning as we come together to extend a hand to those striving for freedom from addiction, and celebrate the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit.
Fern House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the West Palm Beach community since 1983. We aim to take indigent, chronic drug and alcohol abusers off the streets and help them reintegrate into society. We take damaged lives and make them whole, reuniting broken families. Our mission and philosophy are straightforward. Following the principles of AA, we are addicts helping other addicts. We depend on the mutual help, fellowship and experience of fellow addicts and alcoholics to support each other on the journey to recovery.
Fern House only comes forward to ask for help once per year. joining us, you're not just attending an event — you're changing lives. Your support will directly impact hundreds of men on their journey to recovery, helping them rebuild with dignity and purpose.
